Since 2019, Uzbekistan’s commercial aircraft fleet has more than tripled, according to Jamoliddin Nazarov, Head of the Air Transport Department at the Ministry of Transport. Speaking at the Uzaero 2025 forum held last week in Tashkent, Nazarov noted that the country operated just 29 aircraft in 2019, compared with 108 as of November this year.

Driven by liberalization in the civil aviation sector, the number of local airlines grew from two to 17 over the same period. Thirteen of these carriers operate passenger and cargo services, while the remaining four are engaged in specialized aerial work.

Uzbekistan’s air route network has expanded 2.6 times since 2019, reaching 203 destinations. International routes saw the most significant growth, increasing from 67 to 185, while domestic routes rose from 11 to 16.

Jamoliddin Nazarov also highlighted that through interline and codeshare agreements with 38 foreign airlines, Uzbekistan is connected to 194 countries worldwide with just one transit stop.

In 2024, Uzbekistan’s civil aviation sector carried 13.5 million passengers, including 11 million on international flights and 2.5 million on domestic routes.
