Uzbekistan is pressing ahead with its efforts to strengthen its position as a regional aviation logistics hub. Airport management company Uzbekistan Airports agreed to a cooperate with Malaysia Airlines Berhad Cargo (MASkargo), the cargo arm of Malaysia’s national carrier.

The agreement focuses on organizing handling services for the Malaysian airline’s cargo flights at airports across the Central Asian republic. Key aspects of the collaboration, including the potential for servicing cargo flights at Tashkent International Airport (TAS), were discussed during a recent meeting with Mir Amirul, Senior Manager for Special Projects and Engineering at MASkargo.

The partnership’s first tangible result came on March 9, when a MASkargo freighter made a technical stop at TAS while operating the Kuala Lumpur—Tashkent—Amsterdam route.

MASkargo’s primary hub is Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). Through an extensive partner network, the airline provides cargo services to over 100 destinations worldwide.
