Kazakhstan’s Air Astana Group continues to finalize its flight schedule for the Summer 2026 season. The flagship carrier announced it will resume direct flights from Almaty to the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, starting March 15.

Initially, the 3-hour and 35-minute flights will operate twice weekly. However, the frequency will increase to three times a week in April and reach four weekly flights by May.

In its current winter schedule, the Kazakh airline only serves Baku from Atyrau. Starting March 18, the frequency on the Atyrau–Baku route will be increased from two to three flights per week.

Currently, the sole operator on the Baku–Almaty route is Azerbaijan Airlines, which performs four flights per week. It also remains the only carrier operating services from Baku to Astana and Aktau.

Meanwhile, Air Astana’s low-cost subsidiary, FlyArystan, is set to increase flight frequencies from Almaty to Yining in western China for the summer period. From March 29 to October 23, 2026, the airline will operate four weekly flights instead of the current three. FlyArystan noted that service to Yining was first launched in May 2025 as a seasonal route but has since demonstrated high passenger demand.
