In late January, the Kazakh low-cost carrier Vietjet Qazaqstan (ex-Qazaq Air) announced a partnership with Canadian IT developer InteliSys Aviation to facilitate its transition to the new amelia Passenger Service System (PSS). This platform is already utilized by its parent company, Vietjet, and its subsidiary, Thai Vietjet Air.

“We are building Vietjet Qazaqstan to deliver a customer-first, great-value travel experience while remaining a low-cost carrier. To achieve this goal, we strategically opted for InteliSys Aviation — their modern, adaptable platform and mobile-first approach will let us grow fast, sell smart, and serve passengers better,” said Adilbek Umraliyev, CEO of the airline.

The cloud-based amelia system integrates real-time inventory management, sales optimization, robust e-commerce tools, online booking, and a scalable Departure Control System (DCS). It will enable the airline to drive ancillary revenue with a strong emphasis on mobile-first passenger experiences.

Operating on a unified PSS with its parent carrier is a critical step in Vietjet Qazaqstan’s evolving business model. This year, the airline — which previously focused primarily on domestic routes within Kazakhstan — will begin taking delivery of medium-range Boeing 737MAX aircraft. This fleet expansion will allow the carrier to extend its international footprint to neighboring countries.

In turn, the parent company, Vietjet Air, has been exploring the possibility of using Kazakhstan as a strategic transit hub for flights connecting Vietnam to Europe.
