Uzbekistan’s Centrum Holding charts course for U.S. with new routes, freighters, and university plans
The company sees significant potential in deepening its collaboration with American companies
Uzbekistan-based privately-held Centrum Holding has outlined a multi-pronged expansion strategy targeting the U.S. market, following talks between its leadership and U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick.
The plans encompass both passenger and cargo operations, alongside an initiative to establish an aviation university in partnership with a leading American institution.
CENTRUM AIR TARGETS U.S. PASSENGER MARKET
The group’s passenger airline, Centrum Air, is considering a launch of services to the United States. Priority routes under consideration are Samarkand to New York and Tashkent to Miami, flights that would include a technical stop in Europe, with Vilnius in Lithuania a likely candidate.
The services are aimed at connecting Uzbekistan’s diaspora and capitalizing on growing tourism and business traffic.
MY FREIGHTER TO BOLSTER FLEET WITH FIVE ADDITIONAL BOEING JETS
On the cargo side, Centrum’s My Freighter – now Uzbekistan’s largest air freight specialist after just three years of operations – has revealed plans to add five additional Boeing freighters in 2026.
This expansion will grow a fleet that currently consists of nine U.S.-built aircraft: eight Boeing 767-300Fs and one 757F.
The airline already moves cargo to the U.S. through interline agreements with carriers including American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, with Uzbek agricultural exports forming a core part of its export traffic.
In November 2025, both of the holding’s airlines received authorization from the US to operate flights, as their application for “foreign air carrier” status was approved by the US Department of Transportation.
EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIP
Beyond fleet and network growth, Centrum Holding is discussing with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to found an aviation university in Uzbekistan. The project is designed to develop pilots, engineers, and technical staff to international standards, addressing the region’s growing need for specialized aviation personnel.
“We see significant potential to deepen our collaboration with American partners across aviation, logistics, education, and investment,” said Centrum Holding Founder and CEO Abdulaziz Abdurakhmanov.
