Azerbaijan Airlines details 2025 digital developments
Azeri flag carrier continues to work on improving the passenger experience
Throughout 2025, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) successfully introduced a range of digital services for its passengers, announced the airline’s president, Samir Rzayev.
Economy class travelers can now utilize the AZAL Upgrade service, which allows for online class-of-service upgrades. Additionally, several other online features have been launched: a 72-hour price-lock option, the ability to block an adjacent seat or an entire row for an additional fee, and automated notifications for flight delays exceeding two hours, which include the option to rebook the flight digitally.
Passengers can now also pay for tickets using Apple Pay and Google Pay, and save their boarding passes to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet after online check-in.
The airline has also modernized its in-flight entertainment system. A landmark agreement was signed with Viasat to equip twenty new aircraft—including the Airbus A320 narrowbody family and long-haul Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners—with the Viasat Amara satellite connectivity system. This integration will provide passengers with high-speed onboard Wi-Fi.
In the past year, Azerbaijan Airlines saw its passenger traffic increase by modest 3%, reaching a total of 4.16 million people.
