Kazakhstan’s Air Astana accounts for nearly all of Airbus’ February orders
OEM secured orders for 28 aircraft during the month, with 25 units placed by Kazakh flag carrier
Airbus secured orders for 28 aircraft in February, with the overwhelming majority—25 units—placed by Kazakhstan’s flag carrier, Air Astana.
Early in the month, an extraordinary general meeting of Air Astana Group shareholders approved a firm contract with the European aerospace giant for the delivery of five A320neo and 20 A321neo narrowbody aircraft. The agreement also includes options for the purchase of an additional 25 jets from the A320neo family. It was this firm commitment that was recorded in the manufacturer’s February order book.
The airline expects to take delivery of the new aircraft between 2031 and 2034.
A memorandum of understanding for the deal was initially signed by the parties in November 2025.
On the delivery side, Airbus handed over 35 aircraft to customers worldwide during the month. Of these, 25 were from the A320neo family, with 21 being the stretched A321neo variant.
Over the first two months of 2026, the company delivered 54 aircraft to 27 customers and posted a net order total of 77 units.
Recently, Air Astana celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Airbus operations. The airline took delivery of its first A320 in February 2006, and the group’s current fleet—comprising both Air Astana and low-cost carrier FlyArystan—now consists mainly of Airbus aircraft, including 41 A320/A321neo family jets and 18 A320/A321ceo models.
