With the transition to the summer schedule in late March, German flag carrier Lufthansa will resume flights from Frankfurt to Kazakhstan. According to the airline, starting March 29, it will operate five weekly flights to Almaty and four to Astana using four-engine Airbus A340-300 widebody aircraft.

These flights will be operated as “triangle” routes. One flight from Frankfurt to Astana will stop in Almaty before flying back directly, while another will follow the reverse routing. During stops in Astana, transit passengers will remain on board, whereas in Almaty, they will be required to proceed to the airport’s transit lounge.

Lufthansa has routinely suspended its flights to Kazakhstan during the winter period for the second year in a row. In 2025, the German carrier resumed flights to this Central Asian country nearly a month earlier, in mid-February.

During the winter season, however, Lufthansa continues to sell tickets for flights from Frankfurt to Almaty and Astana through its codeshare agreement with Kazakhstan’s national carrier, Air Astana.
