In 2025, Georgian airports served a record 8.495 million passengers, marking a 14% increase year-over-year. The year also set a new benchmark for flight operations, with 38,200 movements recorded—a growth of 17.5%.

The air cargo sector saw even more pronounced expansion. Freight volumes reached 38,578 tons, another all-time high, representing a 50% surge compared to 2024.

These figures were highlighted by Tamar Ioseliani, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, during a meeting with Nicolas Rallo, Regional Director of the European/North Atlantic Bureau of ICAO, held earlier this month in Paris.

Overall, 2025 marked a historic peak for Georgia’s aviation sector across key metrics, including passenger and cargo traffic, the number of operating airlines, destinations served, flight frequencies, and tourist arrivals.

Currently, 77 airlines connect Georgia’s three international airports to 125 destinations worldwide.

The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development noted that the growth in aviation is directly proportional to the sustainable and diversified development of the country’s tourism sector, which also had an exceptionally successful year in 2025. Georgia welcomed a record-breaking 5.5 million tourist visits, an 8.4% increase from 2024.

In total, international traveler visits reached 7.8 million in 2025, a 5.9% rise year-on-year. The tourism industry also achieved a record high in revenue. Annual income from travel grew by 6.0%, totaling US$4.69 billion.
