Uzbekistan Airways’ 2026 plan: new jets, new routes, new look
The airline plan introduction of at least two new Airbus A321neos this year
Uzbekistan Airways, one of the leading airline groups in the Central Asia/Caspian/Caucasus region, has unveiled a plan for 2026, centering on fleet modernization, network expansion, and a refreshed brand identity.
The announcements were made during a ceremony in Tashkent commemorating the carrier’s 34th anniversary.
FLEET MODERNIZATION WITH A321NEOS
The centerpiece of the strategy is the planned introduction of at least two Airbus A321neo aircraft. These new jets will feature the enhanced Airspace Premium cabin, offer passenger connectivity via in-flight internet, and come equipped with the latest generation in-flight entertainment systems. The airline confirmed the expected delivery of two units this year, sourced through lease agreements with SMBC Aviation Capital and/or China’s CALC. Final number of aircraft and delivery timelines are contingent on Airbus’s production schedule.
In a move to bolster its widebody operations, the airline is also evaluating the potential return to service of a currently grounded Boeing 767.
NETWORK EXPANSION
Uzbekistan’s flag carrier is set to grow its international footprint with the launch of at least five new routes:
- From Tashkent: Warsaw (Poland), Guangzhou, Shenzhen (China), and Atyrau (Kazakhstan).
- From Namangan: A new direct service to Delhi, India.
A NEW LOOK FOR THE BRAND
Complementing its operational growth, the airline is rolling out a completely new uniform collection for its cabin crew, designed by Uzbek fashion house Molto Caldo. The design philosophy blends modern elegance with national heritage, featuring a palette of deep navy blue and burgundy, accented with “dusty rose.”
Senior crew members will be identifiable by burgundy uniforms, and traditional “islimi” patterns are subtly incorporated into the detailing. The company stated the new attire aims to project a contemporary image while ensuring crew comfort across diverse climates.
SUSTAINED TRAFFIC GROWTH
These developments follow a year of solid performance for the airline group, which reported carrying 6.612 million passengers in 2025, a 6.5% increase over the previous year.
