Azerbaijan Airlines initiates transition to new retailing system
Azeri flag carrier will transition to Accelya’s FLX Select platform
Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has signed a multi-year agreement with Accelya, enabling the carrier to implement a direct sales system for its services via the NDC (New Distribution Capability) protocol, bypassing traditional global distribution systems (GDS).
To achieve this, Azerbaijan Airlines will transition to Accelya’s FLX Select platform. This service provides access to an established ecosystem of travel agencies and aggregators, ensuring immediate market reach and accelerating the return on investment from NDC implementation. The airline will now be able to deliver clearer, more personalized offers and drive sales through partner channels while modernizing distribution across its entire indirect ecosystem.
“We see modern retailing as a journey that airlines must own. By selecting FLX Select, AZAL is taking control of how its offers are created and distributed, and helping set the pace for retailing transformation in the region,” noted Jamil Manizade, Chief Commercial Officer of Azerbaijan Airlines.
According to the independent research firm T2RL, Accelya facilitated nearly 50% of all global NDC transactions in 2024.
