Kazakh low-cost carrier FlyArystan has announced the resumption of direct flights from the country’s largest city, Almaty, to Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The service will operate twice weekly during two seasonal periods this year: from March 21 to May 30, and again from September 1 to October 24.

According to FlyArystan President Richard Ledger, the relaunch of the Almaty–Samarkand route is a response to sustained passenger demand for travel to Uzbekistan.

The LCC will be the sole operator on this route. FlyArystan also serves the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, though those flights depart from Astana. Meanwhile, another Kazakh carrier, Qazaq Air, connects Astana with Samarkand.

Uzbek private carrier Centrum Air is also preparing to launch flights to Kazakhstan this spring. Its planned program includes routes from Tashkent to Astana and Uralsk, as well as from Nukus to Aktau and Atyrau.
