Turkmenistan Airlines (T5), the national air carrier, has become a member of The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA), signaling a focused strategy to integrate Turkmenistan into the global air cargo ecosystem.

The move is designed to enhance international freight forwarder confidence, attract new clientele, as well as bolster the country’s transit and logistics capabilities.

Turkmenistan Airlines’ admission into TIACA was formalized during the industry’s event, the Air Cargo Forum 2025 in Abu Dhabi in November, where the carrier was inducted alongside other key operators, including Amazon Air Cargo.

This integration is crucial for the carrier as it seeks to maximize the utilization of its dedicated freighter capacity.

The Turkmen carrier currently operates two converted Airbus A330-200P2F widebody freighters, which entered revenue service in 2023.

These assets are central to the airline’s strategy for serving transcontinental routes.

Its operational base, Ashgabat International Airport (ASB), supports this expansion with a modern cargo terminal spanning 17,200 square meters.

The terminal’s infrastructure is vital for facilitating the necessary increase in transit and freight handling operations required for T5’s expanded global presence.
